The Web site’s self-stated goal is to provide "Unofficial news and information about His Holiness, Pope John Paul II.’ Initial posts on the weblog centered upon topics such as the Pontiff’s views on sovereignty being returned to the Iraqi people. A representative from Dotmarketer LLC stated that the company would not attempt to secure any revenue from the Web site, which is hosted by a free service, Blogspot. Jimmy Atkinson lent his design services to the project and Michael Johnston donated his time to perform search marketing for the new site. "Simply put, I love the Pope, and that’s why I have no problem helping out with a project such as this,’ said Johnston. The Web site’s design is based on the look and feel of the official Web site of the Holy See, although the graphics were created uniquely for this project. Said Atkinson, "I wanted to create a sense of holiness befitting our beloved Pontiff, without stifling anyone.’ Dotmarketer LLC is a privately held company based in Los Angeles, California.
