Human Rights Day (10 December)
All States and interested organizations were invited by the
United Nations General Assembly in 1950 to observe 10 December
as Human Rights Day (resolution 423 (V)). The Day marks the anniversary
of the Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

TV set designer to exhibit at Wealden House



(PRLEAP.COM) Dominic Roberts, who has designed sets and costumes for such TV shows as
‘The Bill’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Holby City’, ‘Footballers Wives’ and ‘Great
Expectations’, will be exhibiting some of his original storyboards, set
designs and costume designs in the newly refurbished panelled room at
Wealden House, Lewes Road, East Grinstead from Mon 17th May to Fri 11th
June. The exhibition is a rare opportunity to see such work and will be a
delight to fans of the above shows.

Entrance is free and there is even a chance to win an original storyboard
that was actually used in the filming of ‘EastEnders’!

About the artist

Dominic Roberts is a Set Designer working on popular televisions shows
like ‘EastEnders’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Holby City’.

Born in Malawi in 1969, he lived in the Gambia and Holland before settling
with his mother and little sister in Forest Row aged 8. He attended
Michael Hall School then Greenfields.

After graduating with a B.A. Hons in Theatre Design from Wimbledon School
of Art, he worked on several films and theatre shows before taking an M.A.
in Design for Film & Television at the Royal College of Art. Since then
he worked his way up through the television design department with
involvement in ‘True Blue’, ‘Family Money’ and ‘Great Expectations’ among
others.

For the last two years he has been designing for the top soaps as well as
producing storyboards for some of the more complex sequences.
Storyboarding is another area where he has worked very broadly most
recently ‘Bad Girls’ and the soon-to-be-released film, ‘Elvis O’Presley’.

The exhibition is open from 9.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday (other times
by appointment) and admission is free.

Attached images are storyboards from ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Footballers Wives’
that avid fans will immediately recognise.
