Date: 2004.05.10 10:00:22 Category: Real Estate From: John Wood Company: Wealden House Phone: 01342 326130 (PRLEAP.COM) Michael Wimshurst, Senior Partner of East Grinstead-based Wimshurst & Co, chartered building surveyors, architectural designers and conservation specialists who made the application said that the new use as an artistic, cultural and wellness centre promises to ensure the continued improvement and restoration of this splendid house and its lovely grounds. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Wimshurst & Co specialises in period/listed buildings and barn conversions. The company has a close working relationship with conservation officers and English Heritage; it is a member of the Local Authority Planning Agents focus group; it is currently working on a half a million-pound fire damage reinstatement of a Grade II period farmhouse in conjunction with McCurdy and Co, the timber-framed specialist building company which built the Globe in London. Its corporate clients include BAA and Ronson International. London-based investment company, Northern & Midland Holdings Ltd which owns Wealden House announced that a sale of the house and its grounds has been agreed with Weald Properties Investment Ltd, one of the Gaiman family holding companies. Speaking for Northern & Midland, Philip Goldberg, managing director, expressed how pleased he was that the property has been taken by owners who will care for the house and its historic traditions. "We understand that a Wealden House Foundation will be responsible for the administration and for the improvement of the building and its grounds. We hope to provide a platform for artists and to add a sculpture park in the grounds for the benefit of local artists and sculptors," said David Gaiman, local resident and chairman of the Gaiman group of companies. "Artists may sell their work from Wealden House and all we ask is that they make a contribution to a local charity." Said Michael Wimshurst, "It will be a vast improvement if we can reorient the entrance to the road to bring it up to the superb standard of the rest of the building."
