Ethernet Revenues To Service Providers Will Reach $7.6 Billion By 2007

(PRLEAP.COM) CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ — The Ethernet market in service provider networks will grow 20% per year from 2002 through 2007.

"Carriers are using Ethernet for metro transport, backhaul from access devices, and to augment or replace point-to-point services for enterprises," comments John Marcus, Vice President for the independent financial analyst firm, Probe Financial Associates (PFA).

Ethernet offers many advantages, but one stands out - low cost. "Ethernet’s market dominance reduces equipment costs," Marcus continued. "Provisioning is also inexpensive, using Ethernet as a transport layer provides a seamless connection between corporate networks."

PFA’s new report, "Ethernet in Telecom Carrier Networks," examines the market for Ethernet in service provider networks, and current Ethernet service initiates by carriers. The report also discusses the positions of the major Ethernet equipment vendors. - # -
